I am writing in to this page after reading all the comments on the TH and RH websites and after reading all the sliming and accusations by all the three
halls, I guess it is about time to write some of my own thoughts. To the web masters of this site(whoever you are), please try not to edit too much of this message. Thank you!
It is true we won the IHG title last year and we
won it in style, winning many games which we never would have expected to win ie Sepak Takraw, Carrom. We weren't the favourites yet we beat the fancied teams and emerged champions. The reason for winning these games were not by
accident. These teams, in fact almost all the teams last year trained hard, at times late into the nights. They sacrificed the nights and weekends to come back and train and the captains were relentless, sometimes even sadistic in
the trainings. The trainings built the foundations for the teams but trainings weren't enough. When it came down to the games, they played like it was their last. I remembered the Rugby finals last year when we had a whole bunch of
Rugby players injured, yet they fielded themselves 'cos they wanted to beat KR on the field. Despite injuries and all, they played on and people like Desmond and Chris played until they couldn't move anymore yet they continued on.
At the end of the game, all the guys were lying on the ground, some of them couldn't even get up 'cos their shoulders came off. We lost the game but to me, we were the true champs that day. The Handball girls played hard against TH
during the finals and it was a 50-50 game. Unfortunately, we lost that game and I remembered when I went for the debriefing, seated on the ground were a team of girls with their heads down, not because they lost the game. Their
heads were down because they didn't want anyone to see the tears in their eyes. They so badly wanted to beat TH and win the game and they showed it on the court by playing their hearts' out. This is the spirit that the teams should
have.
For the non-sports people, you have a role too. I remembered the Basketball finals last year. For the first time in my 4 years in the hall did we have more supporters than TH. This was really a surprise to me 'cos
usually we would have the least amount of supporters among the halls(excluding KE7). Yet last year the the amount of supporters we had just overwhelmed me and I think it also had the same effect on the teams. For once we were
outcheering, out-booing and out-swaning all our opponents. I remember there was a core group of supporters last year who disturbed the opposing teams so much that until now I still get complaints from my friends in other halls.
They would come up to me and say that our supporters have no 'sportsmanship'. I would just shrug and walk away 'cos if this is what it takes to bring the halls together, then continue with the 'unsportsman' behaviour.

Wei is a very good Sports Sec and he has already done a lot for the teams' and the sports men and women. However there is only so much he can do. He has laid the foundations by providing all that he can for the teams but the games
are played on the courts and fields. That is where you come in. Things aren't looking favourable now but not all things are lost. We still have a few games these few days and it is time for Eusoffians to unite! For the teams
playing, go in there and play with all your hearts. Show your opponents what Eusoffians are made of. For the rest, go down and support these teams. Let your voices be heard. Show our neighbours whatever they can do, we will be
better. Don't let your friends face them alone. Go down and play as a hall. At the end of the day, no matter what happens, hold your heads up high and remember, when we play like champs, we are already the champs and people will
respect us for that. But if we go into the game acting like champs, we are the real losers. Let's show NUS what Eusoff Hall is made of !
