Dear all,

I am sure it will come as no surprise to some Eusoffians if I were to reveal who wrote the first letter to the VII IHG FORUM. It was me. I wanted to remain anonymous because I believe that rallying support should not be the work of one person alone. The past few days, I am positive that the increased presence of Eusoffians for all the games was the work of not only Lenny, Chin Wei but also that of those who made the effort go down to the SRC and bring people down along with them. My purpose of wanting to credit this letter is to tell everyone, Eusoffians and non-Eusoffians, that I am proud of the sportsmen who played their hearts out at each and every game and that I am so proud of my hall that I am not afraid to represent it, in a letter and in all ways possible.

Those that went down to support the soccer semi-finals would perhaps be in a better position to understand this sentiment. Even though our chance of winning this year's IHG may be bleak. I am proud of our performance this year. Being a freshman, I would never be able to know what it was like winning the title last year. However, I staunchly believe that Eusoff and its sportsmen have left such a legacy in my mind, that it would be difficult to repeat it next year and the years that would follow. The fire and passion that was present in each and every man on the soccer field on Saturday could be clearly seen by all. It may be a subjective opinion, but I really felt that the Eusoff Soccer Team won the day. It was heart-breaking to witness a team that played so well defeated, only, by luck. Temesek Hall was a worthy opponent and I hope that they would be able to see that playing against our team was not an easy task.

The term 'No regrets' has been surfacing on my mind ever since IHG began. If we have played our best, if we have given our all, then it is my strongest desire to see that at the end of this IHG, Eusoffians have only proud moments to remember and as we look back, only proud thoughts. This goes out to ALL the sports and not just soccer. We still have a few more battles to fight and let's not let such defeats get us down. Supporters, go down and continue to show the other halls that you are proud of the players playing for you and your hall. If we are to give up now, we would only tell the other halls that our vision of winning is limited only to the actual title and not the actual spirit of the entire IHG. To both players and supporters, we are going to walk out of this year's IHG together as a team and as a hall. And in mind that orientation would come soon, let us as seniors tell the next batch of freshmen that they have a legacy to continue. Eusoff Hall will continue to stand proud among the halls and its spirit would be one that cannot be imitated and can only be envied from a distance.

For those of us who have yet to experience such a cathartic feeling of having fought your best, I am positive that going down as a supporter would give you the satisfaction of being able to watch the players playing perhaps one of the best games in their lives.

Coming from Eusoff Hall may not make you a winner, but be a EUSOFFIAN, and you will never be a loser.

Deborah Tan.
